OSSINING, N.Y. - Helene T. Farrey of Ossining, formerly of Peekskill, died Dec. 25. She was 87.
Farrey was born June 3, 1926, in Peekskill; daughter of Vincenzo and Emilia Costa D'Onofrio. She attended a one room school house on Oregon Corners and the Little Red School House on Locust Avenue in Cortlandt, before graduating from Peekskill High School, class of 1944. She was a participant in the Democratic parties in both Peekskill and Croton. She belonged to "Call to Action", a reform movement in the Catholic Church.
Farrey is survived by her sons, Daniel (Nina), Timothy (Cheryl) Farrey; daughter, Monica (Ray) Quercia; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Declan Farrey; daughter, Denise Maier; siblings, Samuel D'Onofrio, Lita Cypher; and friend, Glynn Meggison.
Calling hours are Friday, Dec. 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Dorsey-Carlone Funeral Home, 1100 Cortlandt St., Peekskill. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28 at St. Ann's Church, Ossining, followed by interment in Bethel Cemetery, Croton.
