PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Florence I. Rutkoski, of Peekskill, died Sunday, Aug. 23. She was 97.
Before retiring, Rutkoski was a legal secretary for attorney Cyril T. McDermott in Peekskill and Cortlandt.
She was born April 25, 1918, in Verplanck to John J. and Caroline McGuire Rothweiler.
She graduated from Peekskill High School in 1937 and attended Gaines Business School in New York City.
On Oct. 5, 1947, she married Thomas J. Rutkoski at Assumption Church.
She was a past member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and a parishioner at Assumption Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Mule, of Peekskill; and a son, John (Daphne) Rutkoski, of Peekskill; three grandchildren, Charles Jr. and Gregory Mule` and John Paul (Stacey) Rutkoski; a great-granddaughter, Shayla Mule; and a niece, Audrey Rundle.
She was predeceased by her husband; two sisters, Caroline Delaney and Anna Williams; a brother, John Rothweiler; a son-in-law, Charles Mule; and a sister-in-law, Helen Rothweiler.
Visitation is Wednesday, from 4-8 p.m. at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home in Peekskill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, at 10 a.m. at Assumption Church. Interment will be in Assumption Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Assumption.
