PEEKSKILL, N.Y. - Evelyn Gilchrest, a resident of Peekskill, and formerly of Boykins, Va., died Sept. 17. She was 69.
Gilchrest was born March 4, 1945, to Major and Etta Jordan. She worked at the Ossining Open Door for 28 years.
Gilchrest is survived by her daughters, Valerie Gilchrest, Sharon Gilchrest and Waltina McCLeod (Bradley); three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by her parents; and husband, Walter Gilchrest.
Calling hours are Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Ossining United Methodist Church, 1 Emwilton Pl., Ossining, NY 10562. Home going service to immediately follow.
