Dominick DiPierro, Jr., 81, Formerly Of Peekskill, Owned Hygeia Ice & Fuel

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Dominick DiPierro, Jr., of Myrtle Beach S.C., formerly of Peekskill, N.Y., died Aug. 24. He was 81.

DiPierro was born in Italy to John and Angela DiPierro and was adopted by Dominick and Elizabeth DiPierro. Before retiring to Myrtle Beach, he owned and operated Hygeia Ice and Fuel with his brother. He served in the U.S. Air Force, was a member of Colombian Hose Fire Co. and the Peekskill Volunteer Fire Dept. where he served as fire chief and fire marshal for many years. He was a life member of many Firematic and Civic Organizations.

DiPierro is survived by his wife, Margaret (Picciano) DiPierro; daughters, Lisa (Raymond) Brooks, Nema (Jeffrey) Agosta, Rosalie Coviello, Lura (Freddy) Bleakley; sons, Dominick (Lynda) DiPierro, Patrick (Agnes) DiPierro; brother, Vincent (Jo-Ann) DiPierro; sister, Suor Garzina DiPierro of Italy; stepson, Rocky (Donna) Picciano; stepdaughter, Debby (Darrell) Marriott; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; first wife, Juanita DiPierro; brothers, Peter and Sergio; sister, Catherine; son-in-law, Anthony Coviello; and stepson, Michael Picciano.

Calling hours are Sunday, Sept. 1 and Monday, Sept. 2 from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3 at the Assumption Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
