PEEKSKILL, N.Y. - Betty D. Ashton, a longtime Peekskill resident, died Oct. 14. She was 90.
Ashton was born June 24, 1923. She was a graduate of Peekskill High School class of 1941; she went onto and graduated from New Paltz University in 1945, with a degree in teaching. She worked for over 30-years as a teacher in the Peekskill City School District at Oakside School, until retiring. She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, as well as the Peekskill community. She was on the Board of Directors for the Field Home.
Ashton is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (Philip) Faughnan of Hopewell Junction; and two granddaughters.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the E.O. Curry Funeral Home, Peekskill, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 137 N. Division St., Peekskill. Interment in Hillside Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor.
