About 2:50 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, police officers stopped the man in the Jefferson Valley area of Yorktown for an alleged traffic violation.
The man’s name is not being published because he is eligible for youthful offender status, the police report stated.
Upon further investigation, authorities said they found property that had been reported stolen from the town of Cortlandt.
Officials were already familiar with him as a potential suspect in an alleged Nov. 21 incident at a Hess gas station.
He had allegedly used a stolen credit card on that day while making a purchase at the gas station and is under investigation for that crime, according to the police report.
The man was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of stolen property and ticketed for driving with less than two rear brake lights.
Due to his possible youthful offender status, the man was released to a parent’s custody.
The man is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Jan. 8 at 6 p.m.
No charges have been filed in connection with the alleged credit card fraud that took place at the Hess gas station.
