Walk And Roll For Vets in Montrose

The Montrose campus of the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System will host a 2K Walk and Roll event on June 2 starting at 11:30 a.m. The event will be held in support of employee wellness month and benefits homeless veterans. “We here at VA Hudson Valley Health Care System are proud to conduct the VA 2K event as one of the VA Secretary Eric Shinseki‘s initiatives to end Veteran homelessness,” said hospital director Gerald Culliton. “On any given night one out of six people who are homeless are veterans. There is no more worthy cause than raising awareness to assist those men and women who have served our nation – when now they find that they need us, as community to serve them.”The event is just one of many 2Ks taking place that day at other VA facilities across the country. Although there is no registration fee, employees and volunteers participating in the event are asked to donate an item for a homeless Veteran. Participation is open to the entire community. The event will be held at Building 1 at the Montrose facility. Staggered starting times will be at 11:30 a.m., noon and 12:30 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the 2K will be held on June 9. Pre-registration is not required and those interested in participating should plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to the staggered start time. The hospital is located at 2094 Albany Post Road, Montrose, NY. For more information, call Mary Coopman at 914-737-4400 ext. 3431.
