Verplanck Man Charged With Possession Of Crack Cocaine

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – A Verplanck man was charged with felony drug possession, after he was found in possession of crack cocaine during a traffic stop, the New York State Police said.

Robert P. Casterella, 58, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, in Peekskill about 9:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26.

The following items also were reported by the New York State Police:

Theft of Necklace: A Cortlandt Manor man was charged with felony grand larceny following the theft of a necklace valued at more than $1,000. New York State Police said the necklace was stolen from inside a vehicle parked in the Lake Allendale section of Cortlandt, and an investigation led police to charge Antonio J. Lyons, 24, of Cortlandt Manor just before 8 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23.

Forged Checks: Andrew M. Saragnese, 23, of Cortlandt was charged with with felony grand larceny just after 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23. Police said he stole and forged checks worth $1,335 from a residence.

DWI: Jason Rich, 31, of Verplanck was charged at 10:25 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, with criminal possession of a controlled substance, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent and driving while intoxicated, all misdemeanors. Police said he was stopped at Highland Avenue and Eighth Street in Cortlandt.

DWI: Lelis A. Mejia, 29, of Cortlandt Manor was charged at 4:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent, and DWI, both misdemeanors; and several traffic infractions. Police said she was stopped on Route 6 in Cortlandt.

DWI: Luis R. Pasato, 36, of Peekskill was charged at 11:20 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent and DWI, both misdemeanors. Police said he was stopped on Route 9 near Welcher Avenue.

Assault: Jonathan Witherspoon, 26, was charged with assault and criminal mischief, both misdemeanors, at 10:47 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, in Mohegan Lake.

DWI: Paul Ullman, 47, of Mohegan Lake was charged at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent, a misdemeanor. Police said he was stopped in Somers.

DWI: Eleni L. Papas, 19, of Mohegan Lake was charged with misdemeanor DWI just after 1 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, on Route 9 in Cortlandt.

Petty Larceny: Lloyd T. Serbeh, 23, of the Bronx was charged with misdemeanor petty larceny at the Cortlandt Town Center at 9:50 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26.
