The so-called superstorm that tore through the area Oct. 29 left more than 3,000 Con Edison customers in Peekskill without power, many for several days. A shelter was set up at Peekskill High School that was used by a few dozen residents during and after the storm.
The storm caused a sizable amount of damage in the city, downing trees and power lines and even knocking out traffic lights on Main Street.
But Peekskill recovered quickly from the storm thanks to workers from the Department of Public Works and emergency responders who toiled through day and night to get the city back to normal.
However, residents struggled to find gas in the days after the storm, with long lines forming at city gas stations.
