The Department of Public Works and the Police Department made the decision to implement the winter rules after reviewing the weather forecast which is calling for measurable snow on Saturday, the department said.

Police said the goal of the winter parking ordinance is to allow for the efficient and safe removal of snow and ice from streets following winter storms.

Under winter parking rules, parking is prohibited on city streets from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., except in designated areas where signs are posted for winter alternate side of the street parking.

Winter parking rules, as well as a map detailing regulations for each city street, can be found by visiting the City of Peekskill Website at www.cityofpeekskill.com
