Six Hurt in Peekskill School Bus Collision

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. ‒ Five high school students and a bus monitor were taken to Hudson Valley Hospital Center Monday morning after their bus was hit by a car going through a red light, police said.

"We belive the sun's glare, which was pretty bad at that time of day, played a role," Peekskill Police spokesman Lt. Eric Johansen said.

The bus, which was taking students to the Boces Tech Center in Yorktown, was struck at the intersection of Hudson and Union avenues at appoximately 7:30 a.m., according to Johansen. The car was driven by a 17-year-old girl.

The six people had minor injuries. The bus driver and driver of the car were not injured.
