Report: Peekskill OKs $5M for falsely convicted ex-inmate

PEEKSKILL, N.Y.-- Peekskill officials agreed to pay $5.4 million to Jeffrey Deskovic, who had filed a federal lawsuit for being wrongly convicted of murder as a teen-ager, according to lohud.com

Deskovic was convicted and sentenced to 15 years to life when he was 16 years old in connection with the murder of Peekskill schoolmate Angela Correa. 

He was released in 2006 after the Innocence Project took his case and requested new DNA testing, according to LoHud.com.
