Earlier in the afternoon, Clinton, 65, was seen leaving the hospital but returned 15 minutes later, leading multiple media outlets to prematurely report that Clinton had been discharged.
Clinton's doctors found the blood clot in a routine follow-up MRI after she sustained a concussion Dec. 13. The Chappaqua resident is being treated with anticoagulants.
In a statement issued Monday, her doctors said they believe the concussion was the cause of the clot, which is located between her skull and her brain behind her right ear.
