The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Dutchess County residents regarding the residency of 72-year-old Alan Rudman, who lived in a Rose Street apartment, but has moved out of the area to Hagerstown, Maryland.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Rudman as a Level 2 threat, which means he is a "moderate risk of a repeat offense.” He is also designated as a sexually violent offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Rudman was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse in March 2005 for allegedly having sexual contact with a 7-year-old girl while he was “a person in position of authority.” Rudman was arrested by the Ulster County Family Violence Investigative Unit Task Force and sentenced to two years in prison. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Maryland Department of Public Safety Correctional Services Sex Offender Registry.
