PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- The winter parking weather alert has been rescinded in the City of Peekskill on Friday afternoon, according to the Peekskill Police Department.

The alert, which went into effect Wednesday, was rescinded after the "conclusion of snow removal operations," police said Friday. With the alert no longer in effect, residents can once again park on city streets.

Overnight parking was restricted from 8 p.m. Wednesday until Friday afternoon, and residents were not allowed to park on non-alternate side streets. Vehicles violating the ordinance were towed at the owner's expense and given a $50 citation while the alert was in effect, according to a police statement.
