Peekskill Police Officer Killed In Off-Duty Car Crash

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. ‒ Peekskill Police are mourning the loss of one of their own, 29-year-old Julian Hermosillo, killed in a two-car crash in Goshen at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, according to Detective Sgt. Ray Henderlong.

Hermosillo was off-duty when he was involved in a two-car crash on Route 17 near exit 122a in Goshen. Peekskill Police were notified of his death by New York State Troopers. 

Hermosillo had been a Peekskill officer for 2 ½ years, Henderlong said. Before that he was with the Town of Walkill Police Department.

"Whenever something like this happens, it's like losing a brother. We're close here," said Henderlong.

Funeral plans for Officer Hermosillo are pending.
