PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Due to the extreme heat, the city has opened a cooling center for residents who do not have access to air-conditioned places.

The cooling center is at the neighborhood center across from City Hall on the corner of Nelson Avenue and Main Street. The center will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and again on Thursday. Senior citizens, infants and residents with health conditions are especially encouraged to take advantage of the cooling center.

For additional information, residents can visit www.cityofpeekskill.com.
