Peekskill Man Arrested, Charged in Stabbing

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. - A city man was arrested and charged late Tuesday night with stabbing an ex girlfriend's current boyfriend, according to city police.  

Carrell Torres, 29, broke into his ex-girlfriend's Stuhr Gardens apartment and confronted a 34-year-old White Plains man who was inside, according to Peekskill police. The altercation soon escalated and police said Torres then stabbed the man one time in his back.

Police responding to the report of the altercation found Torres fleeing into the woods surrounding the complex but caught him after a brief foot chase. The unidentified victim was treated at the scene by Peekskill EMS and transported to the Westchester County Medical Center. He is in stable condition with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

Torres was charged with first-degree burglary, a class B felony, and second-degree assault, a class D felony, and was held pending his arraignment in city court Wednesday afternoon.
