The housing authority is dealing with several financial shackles, including thousands in unpaid rent and an $854,000 lawsuit that was filed by a former executive director, LoHud.com reported.
In an effort to help curb the financial crisis, new executive director Patricia Croslan has canceled a $161,000 security contract, cut an after-school program and has begun to go after tenants who haven't paid rent. The efforts still aren't enough, however, and the authority may have to sell properties for a one-time financial infusion, LoHud.com said.
