PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – HRHCare, one of the largest federally qualified health centers in the country, is participating in the “80% by 2018” pledge.
The pledge is part of an initiative sponsored by the American Cancer Society, Centers for Disease Control and the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable. The pledge means that HRHCare is committed to regularly screening 80 percent of adults over 50 for colorectal cancer.
Colorectal cancer is the nation’s third-leading cause of cancer-related deaths, but it can be prevented through proper screening. During screening, doctors can find remove polyps before they become cancerous.
