Peekskill Councilwoman Claims Cover-Up Over Break-In

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Peekskill Councilwoman Vivian McKenzie accused several individuals at Tuesday's meeting of covering up details regarding the investigation into the alleged break-in at City Hall last month, in addition to trying to draw attention away from the matter by targeting her in a leak investigation, according to the Peekskill Post.

McKenezie stated her displeasure with a letter to the city manager, the city attorney and other council members, stating she believed the public had a right to know the details of the break-in and demanded a long list of items, including receipts, contracts and payments issued by the city, in addition to a host of other items, said the Peekskill Post.

The councilwoman also stated that at the same time of the investigation and a report in the newspaper, she believes she was targeted by the city by having her phone taken away, to "be fixed." Following McKenzie’s statements, a heated conversation took place between other council members with both sides accusing the other of playing politics, added the Peekskill Post.
