The committee voted to endorse candidates for district attorney, town supervisor, highway superintendent, two town council seats, town clerk and county legislator. Tendy, the current Putnam Valley supervisor and a criminal defense attorney, has been a vocal critic of incumbent District Attorney Adam Levy. Tendy has called for Levy’s resignation on a number of occasions and has asked Gov. Andrew Cuomo to investigate Levy’s conduct in several matters.
“Putnam County residents deserve a legal system in which they can have unqualified confidence. They know what has been happening under our current D.A., and they know things have to change. I’m truly grateful to the Patterson Republican Committee for taking the lead on this. I still have a lot of campaigning to do, and the primary is a long way off, but this is a very important first step,” Tendy said.
At the meeting, the committee also endorsed Richard Williams for town supervisor, Russell Goff for highway superintendent, Shawn Rogan and Charles Cook for town board, Antoinette Kopeck for town clerk and Ginny Nacerino for county legislator.
Tendy and Levy are expected to square off in a Republican primary in early September.
