PEEKSKILL, N.Y. --Local celebrations take place in Peekskill and Yorktown on New Year's Eve, Thursday, Dec. 31, says The Examiner News.

The Peekskill 2nd annual New Year's Eve Ball Drop at South Division Street and Central Avenue starts with a countdown at 11:30 p.m. Entertainment and fireworks are also planned, and there will be a shuttle bus provided at the Peekskill train station, according The Examiner News.

An inaugural New Year's Even Ball Drop is set to take place in Yorktown with the celebration beginning at 11 p.m., including a DJ., countdown and pyrotechnic display.Town officials in Yorktown will be sworn in on stage, The Examiner News reports.
