In the near future, Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner said, "We will rehabilitate additional water tanks located around the town."

"We're reviewing another contract to address other tanks,'' Feiner said on Friday."I anticipate extensive infrastructure work to take place in the coming years. . . .but don't have costs yet."

A citizens advisory committee has been reviewing short-term and long-term water district needs. Greenburgh is planning a number of similar capital projects -- addressing the town's aging infrastructure, according to Feiner, "so we can continue to provide residents of the town who purchase Greenburgh water with quality, clean and delicious water."

What do town residents get for $1.5 million? A one-million gallon hydropillar storage tank that will continue to function, according to Feiner.

The existing water tank was originally built in 1995. John Devany, who runs Greenburgh's water department within the town Department of Public Works, told the Town Board that it is typical for water tanks to need rehabilitation after 20 years.

There will be interior and exterior painting. Other fixes include: improved circulation of water, minor steel and safety system repairs, engineer service and painting inspections. A water tank mixing system also will be added.

The Glenville Water District is located near the Tarrytown border, close to the Sheraton/Marriott hotels. For more details, go here.
