PEEKSKILL, N.Y. Visitors to the city this holiday shopping season will get a gift from city officials in the form of free two-hour parking at parking metered spaces and parking garages.
The free parking is aimed at bringing in shoppers from outside the city to city stores and eating establishments in the downtown area.
The free parking begins on Friday and runs until New Years Day. The free parking applies only to designated metered parking spots. Those parking in private or reserved parking spaces will still be towed at the drivers expense.
