Rodriguez was arrested in August on an outstanding warrant and less than a week after he was incarcerated, Carter claims her son contracted a mysterious illness, repeatedly throwing up, complaining of headaches and losing 20 pounds in two weeks, News 12 reported.

Carter says Rodriguez was not treated for the illness and was only sent to the emergency room when he said his mother would file a lawsuit against the jail, according to the report.

Rodriguez is being treated for partial paralysis in the intensive care unit at Westchester Medical Center, according to the report.
