PEEKSKILL, N.Y. Theres plenty of entertainment in the city this weekend for music lovers.
On Sunday at 1 p.m., the Paramount Center for the Arts will present the opera Norma filmed live in Bologna, Italy. Written by the composer Bellini, the opera is considered his greatest achievement. The opera is sung in Italian with English subtitles and is two hours and 39 minutes long, plus one intermission. Admission is $16 for members, $20 for the general public.
On Friday, 12 Grapes will feature The Blues Dogs at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $5. On Saturday, the Dave Keyes Band will perform a blues rock set at 9:30 p.m. in promotion of their new CD. Admission is $5. On Sunday, starting at 5:30 p.m., 12 Grapes presents the 18-piece Greg Westhoffs Westchester Swing Band. Admission is $5.
On Friday, the BeanRunner Cafe will have Latin orchestra leader Orlando Marin performing at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10. On Saturday, the Alva Nelson Trio will perform a piano jazz set starting at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10. On Sunday, Noo Moves Entertainment will present an artist appreciation showcase with spoken word poet Chris Is, celloist Mike Lunapiena and pop singer Miyyah starting at 4 p.m. Admission is $5.
The Peekskill Coffee House will host singer and acoustic guitarist "Christine" on Friday at 8 p.m. and acoustic pop group The Ya-Yas on Sunday at 1 p.m. No cover.
