Plenty To Do This Weekend In Peekskill

PEEKSKILL, NY - There's plenty to do this weekend indoors and outdoors around the city.

On Friday, songwriter-producer Todd Rundgren brings his band Utopia to the Paramount Center for the Arts. The group is on a limited engagement 11-city east coast tour and are back together for the first time in 35 years. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets start at $45.

On Saturday, award-winning comedian Paula Poundstone comes to the Paramount. Poundstone is known for appearances on numerous comedy specials and talk shows and her work on the radio shows "Wait Wait! Don't Tell Me!" and "Prairie Home Companion." The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets starts at $34.

Also on Saturday the city is hosting its annual Turkey Foul Shooting Contest in the morning starting at 9 a.m. at Peekskill Middle School for children and adults. Each age group winner get a free turkey. Check the city website, www.cityofpeekskill.com, for age group starting times. Participation is free.

The Peekskill Farmers Market will hold its last event of the year from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Bank Street Saturday. Come shop for plants, baked goods, honey, maple syrup, cheeses and other locally made products.

A special 5 p.m. Evening Mass will be held Saturday at Assumption Church in Honor of 2011 Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 18 Hibernian of The Year, Cathal "Chuck" McGreal prior to the organization's annual Thanksgiving Dinner Dance. The dance will be held at Cortlandt Colonial starting at 7 p.m. The dinner dance is $60 per person.

On Sunday, the Peekskill Attic Treasurers Flea Market will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Bank Street. Come search for clothes, shoes, electronics, books, video games and tons more.

Also on Sunday there will be a giant crafts fair at First Hebrew Congregation from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Over 40 vendors will be selling handcrafted items and gifts. Bring your silver and gold to sell. Crafts include jewelry, home accessories, crocheted items, photography, paintings, Judaica, cosmetics and more. Admission is free.
