Peekskill's Noo Moves Holds Book Bag Drive

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – The new school year is right around the corner, and one Peekskill resident is hard at work helping kids get ready.

"This is our third year doing this fish fry fundraiser," said Andre "Noodle" Rainey, creator of Noo Moves Entertainment. "We have about 11 people here today from the community who are helping out."

For $8 people could get a fried fish sandwich, a slice of cake and a soda, and the proceeds went to buying backpacks for city youth.

"Me and my aunt picked this all up, and a lot of people donated everything here," Rainey said.

Sponsors for the event included Hudson City Savings Bank, Dunkin' Donuts, ShopRite, Stop & Shop, Arthur Weeks and Son, and BeanRunner Cafe, among others.

On Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Noo Moves will hold another event at the Kiley Center, Rainey said.

"We'll have the book bags to distribute to all the kids, and we'll have some performances, too," Rainey said.
