CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- The biggest consumer event in the area returns for a second year Saturday as the Hudson Valley Gateway Experience opens its doors at The Mansion at Colonial Terrace in Cortlandt Manor.
The event, organized by the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce, will feature more than 90 area vendors showing off their wares for the public.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be hosted by WHUD's Kacey Morabito. Unlike most chamber events, this one caters directly to the public.
"This is our business-to-consumer event, so it's for everybody, not just business-to-business," said chamber events coordinator Lauren Brady. "It reaches a large audience of people from all ages. We get a lot of seniors that come and even the kids like it."
This year's participating businesses include home improvement contractors, travel agents, insurance companies, local restaurants and beverage distributors who will be sharing samples from their menus.
This year, Major League Baseball pitching great Tommy John will be on hand from noon to 2 p.m. to sign free autographs and will also be taking pictures with attendees for $10.
Also on hand this year will be representatives from Microsoft, who will be displaying its Xbox Kinect software as well as the all-new Surface tablet, which features a detachable keyboard, and the new Windows phones.
Admission for adults is $5, seniors 62 and up and youth 12 to 17 will pay $3 Admission for children under 12 is free. Admission includes a raffle ticket and a goodie bag.
The Mansion at Colonial Terrace s located at 119 Oregon Road in Cortlandt Manor.
