PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Daniel C. Preston of Peekskill died June 1 with his family by his side. He was 70.
He was born Feb. 24 1942, in Philadelphia, Pa. to the late Andrew and Viola Dreibelbis Preston. Raised in Trooper, Pa., Preston attended The King's College in Briarcliff Manor. On June 5, 1965 he married Ada-May Banning.
Preston worked in insurance from 1967, starting his own agency, Hudson Heritage Group, in 1987. He was involved with the Community Bible Church, Gideon’s International, Ossining Auxiliary Police and nursing home and prison ministries. He also served on the board of directors of the Salvation Army.
One of Preston's favorite things to do was play and umpire softball, which he did into his 50s.
He is survived by his wife, Ada-May; a son, David Preston, of Croton-on-Hudson; two daughters, Dariann (Mark) Thomas, of LaGrangeville, N.Y. and Sharon (Eugene O'Toole) Wallkill; five grandchildren and a sister-in-law. He was predeceased by his brother Andrew.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday at Yorktown Funeral Home. A religious service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Yorktown.
