PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Area residents will celebrate Abraham Lincoln's 204th birthday and the 152nd anniversary of his visit to Peekskill on Saturday, Feb. 9.

The Lincoln Society of Peekskill will commemorate the 152nd anniversary of Lincoln’s Inaugural Train Journey through the city with its 109th Anniversary Parade starting at 11 a.m. Participants will start gathering at 10:30 a.m. at the Metro-North train station on Water Street.

President-elect Abraham Lincoln — or perhaps a very good impersonator — will disembark at 11 a.m. from a train carrying him from Albany to Washington. The parade will begin shortly thereafter.

Civil War military and civilian re-enactors are invited. They should contact Paul Martin at 914-245-8903 for more information.

The brief parade will go from the modern train station to the Lincoln Depot on South Water Street, the site of Lincoln's speech on Feb. 19, 1861. A re-enactment will be performed, and tours of the Lincoln Depot will be offered afterward.
