What's On Trump's Menu? This President Never Met A Meatloaf He Didn't Like

A cauldron of culinary, if not political, intrigue, the White House kitchen has had to adjust to the personal tastes of every new president and First Lady.

Meatloaf is President Donald J. Trump's go-to comfort food, especially if it's made with his mother's recipe.

So what’s Bedford resident and real estate mogul Donald J. Trump’s go-to comfort food? Filet mignon? Lobster tails swimming in butter? Truffled mac ‘n’ cheese?

Nope. The commander in chief loves plain ol’ meatloaf, especially if it’s made with his mama's recipe,  multiple media reports say. (That's the food, not the actor/musician Michael Lee Aday.)

Trump pal Tom Barrack and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the billionaire's onetime rival for the GOP presidential nod, both were roped into eating the brick of baked beef with the diner in chief, as previously reported by Daily Voice.

Barrack dubbed the humble dish “incredible.” Christie, who had been dumped by Trump as head of his transition team and shut out of White House jobs after being one of his earliest supporters, grudgingly admitted that it was “good,” the CNN.com report said.

It was also on the menu in 2005, the year Trump, a former reality TV star, married Melania, his third wife and a former model.

The couple appeared on fellow Westchester resident and household guru Martha Stewart’s cooking show where they made, and noshed on, meatloaf sandwiches, CNN.com said.

According to The Miami Herald, ingredients included celery, carrots, onions, bread crumbs, ketchup and dried mustard.

And in 2012, Trump tweeted that the best meatloaf in the city could be had at Trump Bar & Grill, an eatery at Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan.

It was, Trump claimed, made with his mother’s recipe.

A quick scan of the restaurant’s current lunch menu found everything from pan roasted Amish farm chicken ($25) and seared Ahi tuna ($29) to a Mar-a-Lago (named after Trump’s Palm Beach estate) club sandwich made in heirloom tomatoes, Nueske bacon and herb aioli ($21) and tuna Nicoise ($23) – but no meatloaf.

Meatloaf was notably absent from the posted offerings of sandwiches and burgers at the Trump Café – at least as of Thursday, Feb. 23, it was.

It could not be confirmed, but meatloaf -- topped with lobster mashed potatoes, gold leaf, and lobster bisque gravy -- is reportedly on the menu at Trump's exclusive Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Fla.

According to a Daily News article about the eating habits of the folks who had been battling it out for the White House last fall, Trump once asked for meatloaf while dining about 15 years ago at Sparks Steak House, that so-called “temple of beef” in midtown Manhattan.

The Sparks staffer who waited on him, Sammy Musovic, now owns Vero, an Italian restaurant and wine bar on the Upper East Side.

At the height of the campaign season, Vero's came up with sandwiches based on certain hopeful’s tastes. Trump’s was, of course, a meatloaf sammie, but topped with caviar for a little class. Chappaqua’s Hillary Clinton’s was a “nuclear” taco made with hot peppers, onions, eggs, cheddar cheese and a “secret” sauce, while Bernie Sanders was a pastrami panini with Vermont cheddar cheese.

Other dining spots came up with a taquito dip made with edamame and kimchi instead of avocados, which Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is said to loathe, and the O.K. Kasich Pie, a deep-dish pizza that had to be eaten with a knife and fork, for John Kasich, who once shocked foodies by doing just that, the Daily News reported.

Then there’s snacks.

NYmag.com ran a piece last month revealing the outgoing president’s and the new leader of the free world’s favorite nibbles.

In Barack Obama’s case, it was apples and almonds; in Trump’s, Lay’s potato chips and Doritos, nymag.com said.

Desserts? That’s a story for another day.

Trump, who owns the $19.5 million Seven Springs estate in Bedford, also owns Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Stormville and Trump National Westchester in Briarcliff Manor. The Trump name also adorns Trump Tower At City Center in White Plains, Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, Trump Park Residences in Yorktown and the Donald J. Trump State Park on the Westchester/Putnam border.
