June and especially July (it's National Hot Dog month, after all) are prime times for enjoying this quintessential American favorite. The only question: Who makes 'em best?

Four "top dogs" are contenders in our DVlicious contest. Read on for a brief profile (all have been highlighted this week), then let your fingers do the clicking.

You can vote multiple times, albeit once per day. Voting ends 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 27.

Walter's Hot Dog Stand, Mamaroneck

Frank Talk: A lot of history -- and love - go into this hot dog, a cherished family recipe that dates to 1919 and Founder Walter Warrington.

The stand's claim to fame -- the Westchester institution has won number accolades, including as our own DVlicious winner in 2016 --  is its blend of beef, pork and veal,  split down the middle and grilled to golden brown perfection in a secret sauce. The buns are toasted to a crisp and the dogs are then nestled inside and slathered in housemade mustard.

As much as its hot dogs are beloved, so, too, is Walter's ambiance: a funky Chinese pagoda where standing in line -- and grabbing a picnic table in the back -- is part of the process.

Walter's is also well known for its food trucks and recently announced it will soon open a second location in White Plains.
