PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – The city’s summer riverfront concert series begins Wednesday, which just happens to be the Fourth of July.

The free concerts at Riverfront Green Park are sponsored by the Peekskill Department of Parks & Recreation, run from 7-9 p.m. and feature a variety of musical genres.

The blues and funk band Black Dirt will kick off the series on Independence Day and the show will be followed by this year’s fireworks display courtesy of the Peekskill Fire Department.

Bring a blanket, chairs and food to the park to enjoy the show.

The alternative location for shows in the case of inclement weather is Peekskill Middle School, located at 212 Ringgold St.
