WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Health Quest has announced an initiative to promote healthier eating within its three hospitals: Northern Dutchess Hospital, Vassar Brothers Medical Center, and Putnam Hospital Center.

This news comes on the heels of the announcement of its new partnership with Guiding Stars, the nation’s leading independent nutrition guidance program. As part of its effort to foster a culture of healthy living, Health Quest recently switched to antibiotic-free and hormone-free turkey and chicken in all three hospitals, as well as The Thompson House, and has taken several other measures to provide staff, guests, and patients with healthier eating options. Salad bar selections have been expanded, there are more vegetarian options on the menus, and as part of a broader farm-to-table movement in the Hudson Valley region, Health Quest facilities now incorporate foods from local farmers, offered all year long. Health Quest includes three awarding-winning hospitals—Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie—plus 10 primary care Health Quest Medical Practice (HQMP) locations, several HQMP specialty locations and two Health Quest Urgent Care locations for walk-in urgent care. Health Quest delivers care to more than one million people in Columbia, Dutchess, Ulster, Orange, Putnam and northern Westchester counties.
