The column, "X-Planations ... Chef Talk From Peter X. Kelly" is a partnership between Daily Voice and esteemed Westchester Chef Peter X. Kelly of the Xaviars Restaurant Group.

Kelly, perhaps best known among Westchesterites for X20 Xaviars on the Hudson, his stunning Yonkers waterfront restaurant, has been a fixture on the Hudson Valley cooking landscape for nearly three decades specializing in contemporary American cuisine.

"Daily Voice offers me an opportunity to share my culinary perspective with a community I have been serving for years, albeit in a new way," Kelly said. "I have spent the past three decades immersed in food and wine and could not be more excited to share my adventures -- both personal and professional with Daily Voice readers."

Born in Yonkers, tenth in a line of 12 children, Kelly began working in local restaurants at the age of 14. While studying business administration at Marist College, he held a number of kitchen and front-of-house positions in some of New York’s finest restaurants. His first restaurant, Xaviars, was launched in Garrison at age 23 and the "X's" flowed from there.

He now owns Restaurant X & The Bully Boy Bar in Congers, Xaviars Piermont and Freelance Cafe in Piermont, and X2O Xaviars on the Hudson in Yonkers, all of which have received the industry’s most coveted awards.

Many of those who follow cooking shows know Kelly from his 2007 appearance on the Food Networks "Iron Chef America" where he beat Bobby Flay in Battle “Cowboy Rib-Eye." He also played host to Anthony Bourdain on his “No Reservations” program, introducing the TV host to the beauty of the Hudson Valley.

Kelly is also the founder of “Events by Xaviars," which offers catering for parties between 100 and 2,000 people and is very involved with a host of charitable and industry organizations.

"Peter Kelly is a world class chef, who understands the close connection between community and cuisine," said Daily Voice Founder and CEO Carll Tucker. "We are honored to welcome him to Daily Voice's family."
