PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- HRHCare, a primary and urgent care center with locations in Nyack and Peekskill, offers a unique approach to health care. The medical staff is compassionate and believes everybody has the right to health services, regardless of their ability to pay.

Asma Khan is a family medicine physician and the clinical director of HRHCare Urgent Care in Nyack. Holding both an MBBS and MD degree from the Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan, she completed her family medicine internship and is licensed to practice in the State of New York. "I came to this country to help people, and HRHCare gives me the ability to do so," said Khan. "We have a different approach than most health centers. The ability to help anybody who walks in separates us from them."

HRHCare delivers preventative, behavioral and oral health care. The culturally diverse team, most of whom are multi-lingual, provide health care services, regardless of one’s ability to pay. HRHCare believes high-quality health care starts with compassion and dignity, and is available when and where you need it. "Our goal and commitment are to help our communities get and stay healthy," said Khan.

Khan, who moved from Pakistan to America when she was 28-years-old, knew she wanted to treat those who were sick or injured. While she could have trained to work as a doctor at one of the many large hospitals in the area, Khan chose HRHCare to help those who don't have access to insurance or have trouble paying. "I treat a wide variety of people who don't have the advantage of medical insurance," said Khan. "I treat many immigrants who have just arrived in this country and haven't had the chance to set up an insurance plan, and others who can't afford the high rates. I believe if people need medical assistance, we are the people to help them."

Since beginning at HRHCare two years ago, Khan says she has treated everything from sprains, strains and allergic reactions to rashes, abdominal pains and concussions. "We have an easy and painless process," said Khan. "If you need to see a doctor and don't know where to go, we may be able to help."

HRHCare is open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. For more information, visit their website.
