Brittany DiDonato, of Continental Village, was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of liver cancer. She has been traveling to New York City every week to receive chemotherapy and meet with doctors.

“This event is all about creating camaraderie for a cause,” said Brett Baker, plant manager of Wheelabrator Westchester. “We are honored to bring the Westchester and Bridgeport teams together to support our neighbor, Brittany DiDonato, and her family.”

Wheelabrator, a waste-management company, delivered the donation of $5,938 to DiDonato through the KFM foundation, part of the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

“This year marks the fourth annual charity softball game between our teams,” said Glenn Lockhart, plant manager at Bridgeport. “We are proud of the strong support from our employees and their families and look forward to continuing the tradition in the years to come.”

The game at Lent’s Cove Field in Cortlandt on Sept. 12 drew more than 90 spectators. The final score for the game was Westchester Wildcats 21 and Bridgeport Bulldogs 20.

Members of the public who would like to make donations to help DiDonato offset her medical expenses can visit her fundraising page on Facebook.
