What's Happening This Weekend In Peekskill

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- The Hudson Valley Irish Festival and the Peekskill Rotary Horse Show head up a busy weekend across the city.

Friday, Sept. 21

  • Tales for Tots: 11 a.m. Stories for children ages 2 and up. Field Library, 4 Nelson Ave.
  • “Sleepwalk With Me”: 7:30 p.m. Winner of a 2012 Audience Award at Sundance, comedian Mike Birbiglia wrote, directed and stars in this film, based on his off-Broadway show and bestselling book. When an aspiring stand-up fails to express his true feelings about his girlfriend and his stalled career, his anxiety comes out in increasingly funny and dangerous sleepwalking incidents. Admission is $9 for the general public. Paramount Center for the Arts, 1008 Brown St.
  • The Delfonics Revue: Two shows from 8 to 9:30 p.m. and 10 to 11:30 p.m. Greg Hill, a member of the original Delfonics for more than 15 years, brings the very best of the Grammy-winning group, performing hits like "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)" and "La-La Means I Love You."   • The Flynn's American Jukebox: 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. A night filled with all the favorite rock songs you love dancing and singing to. Covers of The Beatles, Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, The Band, The Eagles, Billy Joel and many more. Admission is a $5 entertainment fee for all, including diners. 12 Grapes, 12 N. Saturday, Sept. 22

  • Peekskill Rotary Club 42nd Annual Horse Show and Country Fair: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Riders from stables throughout the tri-state area come to participate in western and English classes. Fair attractions will include pony and hay rides, a country fair and craft market, bouncy castles and slide rides for children and a “Kountry Kitchen” offering home-baked goods, pumpkins, apples and mums. Admission and parking are free and the show will be rain or shine.   • Fourth Annual Hudson Valley Irish Fest: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Enjoy performances by several top Irish recording artists and bands including Black 47, Jameson’s Revenge and Girsa, as well as the area’s finest Irish step dancers and massed pipe bands. Vendors and exhibitors will provide culinary specialties, Irish literature, media and cultural crafts, and the children’s area boasts pony rides, face painting, crafts and more for the wee lads and lasses.
  • “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”: 7:30 p.m. The classic film that inspired the current Broadway hit Spamalot returns to the big screen - for the first time ever in high-definition. General admission is $9. Paramount Center for the Arts, 1008 Brown St.
  • Rob Wallis, and the Rhythm Method: 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The band will perform a mix of rock and soul tunes. Admission is a $5 entertainment fee for all, including diners. 12 Grapes, 12 N. Division St.

Sunday, Sept. 23

  • “Move To Move”: 1 p.m. In 'Move to Move' by Nederlands Dans Theater 1, you'll see the worldwide admired ballet Silent Screen from resident choreographers Sol León and Paul Lightfoot and a world premiere of Shine a Light. Ohad Naharin is back at Nederlands Dans theater with the Dutch premiere of his ballet Secus.   • Beanrunner Poetry Series: 3 to 5 p.m. Poets Susana H. Case, Karren LaLonde Alenier and Sally Bliumis-Dunn will perform works from their recent books. The poets will sign copies of their books for sale after the reading. Admission is free. Beanrunner Cafe, 201 S. Division St.
  • Greg Westhoff's Westchester Swing Band: 5:30 to 8 p.m. This world-class 18-piece big band features a full horn section, a world-class drummer and bandleader Greg Westhoff. The band performs classic Swing music, Sinatra, Broadway selections and songs from the '40's, '50's and more. Admission is a $5 cover that goes directly to the band. 12 Grapes, 12 N. Division St.
