PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – School is finally back in session across the city starting this week, but there are plenty of other things going on as well.

Monday, Sept. 3

Tuesday, Sept. 4

  • Peekskill City School District Superintendent’s Conference Day
  • Hendrick Hudson School District Superintendent’s Conference Day       
  • Peekskill Committee of the Whole Meeting: 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be in the Paul Schwerman conference room. Peekskill City Hall, 840 Main St.
  • Peekskill City School District Board of Education Meeting: 7 p.m. Peekskill Middle School library, Ringgold St.

Wednesday, Sept. 5

  • Peekskill City School District Superintendent’s Conference Day
  • Hendrick Hudson School District Classes Begin: Early dismissal for Furnace Woods Elementary School is at 10:50 a.m., while Buchanan Verplanck Elmentary’s is at 11:30 a.m. and Frank G. Lindsey’s is at 11:30 a.m.

Thursday, Sept. 6

  • Peekskill City School District Classes Begin: Kindergarten and first grade will have half-day classes Thursday and Friday.
  • John Cobert: 8:30-11 p.m. The first Thursday of each month, Cobert takes the stage to perform an eclectic mix of pop/rock covers, as well as original tunes. Admission is free for patrons. 12 Grapes, 12 N. Division St.
  • Mark Sinnis: The popular local musician will perform a free live set for patrons. Birdsall House, 970 Main St.  

Friday, Sept. 7

  • Orlando Marin: Orlando Marin, a contemporary of such greats as Tito Puente, Machito and Tito Rodriguez, is the only orchestra leader from New York'’s golden era of mambo who still performs regularly. Admission is $10. BeanRunner Café, 201 South Division St.
  • Shadetree Mechanics: 9:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. The band delivers high-energy fun with songs that range from Muddy Waters and Etta James to B.B. King and Buddy Guy to Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. Admission is a $5 cover for all, including diners. 12 Grapes, 12 N. Division St.
  • "To Rome With Love": 7:30 p.m. Directed by Woody Allen and starring Allen, Alec Baldwin, Robert Benigni, Penelope Cruz, Judy Davis, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig and Ellen Page. English and Italian with English subtitles. Rated R. General admission is $9. Paramount Center for the Arts, 1008 Brown St.
  • Tiki Daddy: 7-10 p.m. The Hawaiian-themed band will perform a free live set for patrons in the outdoor beer garden. Birdsall House, 970 Main St.
