What's Happening In Peekskill This Weekend

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – It’s Festa Italiana weekend in the city once again but that’s not all that’s going on.

Friday, Aug. 10

Peekskill Festa Italiana: 6 p.m. The weekend-long street festival kicks off Friday evening on Brown Street. For a full list of this weekend’s Festa Italiana events check out our preview story here.

The Dave Keyes Band: 9:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Dave Keyes won the Blues Foundation's International Blues Competition and appears at blues festivals throughout the world. For six years, he was conductor for the Broadway hit "Smokey Joe's Cafe," and he is a featured performer on the Grammy-winning soundtrack album. Admission is $5. 12 Grapes, 12 N. Division St.

Tiki Daddy: 7-10 p.m. The band will perform a free live set for patrons in the outdoor beer garden. Birdsall House, 970 Main St.

Saturday, Aug. 11

Peekskill Farmers Market: 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendors will sell a variety of foods, including fresh produce, locally made honey, fresh meat and seafood. Bank Street.

"La Strada": 7:30 p.m. Federico Fellini’s wife, Giulietta Masina, plays Gelsomina, a naive girl sold into the employ of a brutal strongman in a traveling circus, in this poetic fable of love and cruelty, winner of the 1956 Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. In Italian with English subtitles. Admission is $9 for the public. Paramount Center for the Arts, 1008 Brown St.

South County: 3-6 p.m. The band will perform a free live set for patrons in the outdoor beer garden. Birdsall House, 970 Main St.

Blues Buddha Band: One of the most fun and exciting blues acts in the tri-state area returns to Peekskill. Blues Buddha was a finalist for The NY Blues and Jazz Society IBC Battle of the Bands in 2010. Admission is a $10 entertainment fee, or $5 with a dinner entree. 12 Grapes, 12 N. Division St.

 Sunday, Aug. 12

Peekskill Attic Treasures: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Flea market vendors will sell such items as video games, music, footwear and purses. Bank Street.

"Norma": 1 p.m. Filmed at Teatro Antico in Taormina, Italy. Conducted by Marco Guidarini, directed by Enrico Castiglione, and starring Chiara Taigi, Gregory Kunde, Irina Lungu and Giacomo Prestia. Running time is three hours including one intermission. Admission is $20 for the public. Paramount Center for the Arts, 1008 Brown St.

Kids' Open Mic Night: 6-8 p.m. A showcase for talented musicians and singers age 17 and under. Bring your guitar, bass, sax, flute or whatever instrument you play. The venue has a drum kit, keyboard, guitar, bass amps and microphones. A special $10 burger menu is offered. Sign-up for Kids' Open Mic begins at 5:30. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Admission is free. 12 Grapes, 12 N. Division St.

Irish Seisun: 8 p.m. The band will play a free set of Irish music for patrons. Birdsall House, 970 Main St.
