Monday, Jan. 7

Story Time at Barnes and Noble: 4 p.m. This story time is designed for children ages 3-7. There is no need to register, just show up at Barnes & Noble in the Cortlandt Town Center, 3089 E. Main St., Mohegan Lake. Call 914-528-6275 for more information.

Tuesday, Jan. 8

Peekskill Board of Education Meeting: 7 p.m. The board has a regular legislative meeting at the administration building, 1031 Elm St., Peekskill.

Peekskill Planning Commission Meeting: 7:30 p.m. The commission meets to discuss development in the city. The commission meeting takes place in the Common Council Chambers, 840 Main St., Peekskill.

Wednesday, Jan. 9

Family Wellness Workshop: 2-3 p.m. This free class is open to caregivers of loved ones with chronic illness and is at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center's Dempsey House, 1992 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor. Participants must register for the class by calling 914-737-9000.

Hendrick Hudson Board of Education Meeting: 7:30 p.m. The board will have a regular legislative meeting in the Hendrick Hudson High School library, 2166 Albany Post Road, Montrose. 

Thursday, Jan. 10

Eagle Monitoring at Verplanck Dock: 3-5 p.m. Continuing Thursdays in January and February, join Sawmill River Audubon Volunteers at the Verplanck Dock, at 2 Riverview Ave., Verplanck as they monitor bald eagles coming to roost across the river at Stony Point and downriver on the north side of Georges Island. Spotting scopes are available, although binoculars are helpful. Dress warmly. Monitoring begins 90 minutes before sunset until full dark.

Caregiver Support Group: 6-7 p.m. This group provides resources and opportunities for relaxation for caregivers of all types and is presented by Leave the Light On Foundation. Each session has a specific theme. Groups meet at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center's Dempsey House, 1992 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor.

Open-Mic Night: 8:30-11:30 p.m. 12 Grapes once-monthly open mic night is hosted by Jess Erick. All music styles are welcome, but most are acoustic. 12 Grapes is at 12 N. Division St., Peekskill.
