Westchester Ablaze With Fireworks For July 4 Celebrations

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Get your red, white and blue on. July 4 festivities are upon us with towns across Westchester gearing up to show their patriotic pride.

The following is a sampling of activities for securing the best perch for picnics and pyrotechnics. Feel free to add more in our comments section below.

Tuesday, June 30, South Salem: The 17th Annual Fireworks Spectacular at Onatru Farm Parks features live music by Annie and The Natural Wonder Band at 7 p.m., Mystery Tour at 8:15 p.m., and fireworks at dusk (9:25 p.m.). Fireworks Fun: 99 Elmwood Rd., www.lewisborogov.com/. Rain date: June 30.

Wednesday, July 1, White Plains: The annual Independence Day celebration will be held at White Plains High School from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will include fireworks, entertainment, giant inflatable rides and food. Fireworks Fun: 550 North St., www.cityofwhiteplains.com/. Rain date: July 2. 

Thursday, July 2, Ossining: Get treated to music and more with Ossining's Friday Night Summer Concert Series and a special holiday performance by Mike Risko Band and Road to Ruin. Thursday, July 2, Yonkers: Do your holiday shopping at Cross County Shopping Center, then enjoy the live music of Milagros, a Santana tribute band, at 7 p.m. followed by fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Fireworks Fun: 8000 Mall Walk, www.crosscountycenter.com/.

Friday, July 3, Playland, Rye: The skies light up at 9:15 p.m. every Friday in July and August as part of Playland's fireworks shows. Special for the holiday: a patriotic musical score July 3 and 4. Fireworks Fun: 1 Playland Parkway, (914) 813-7000, www.ryeplayland.org/

Friday, July 3, Kensico Dam, Valhalla: The Gerard Carelli Orchestra performs patriotic favorites, followed by fireworks. DJ entertainment begins at 6 p.m., concert at 8 p.m., fireworks at 9:15 p.m. Fireworks Fun: 1 Bronx River Pkwy.

Friday, July 3, Pound Ridge: Fireworks begin at Town Park at dusk but guests are invited earlier for a picnic dinner. from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Bring your own, but food and drink will also be provided by the Boy Scouts as part of a fundraiser. Fireworks Fun: 179 Westchester Ave., (914) 764 -0947, www.townofpoundridge.com/. Saturday, July 4, Mamaroneck: The Fireman's Carnival goes on now through July 5 with a huge fireworks display over the Long Island Sound at approximately 9 p.m. at Harbor Island Park. Fireworks Fun: (914) 777-7784, www.village.mamaroneck.ny.us/. Rain date: July 5.

Saturday, July 4, Sleepy Hollow: The old General Mills site is where the light show happens, starting at 9 p.m. Fireworks Fun: www.sleepyhollowny.gov/. Rain date: July 5.
