Things To Do In Peekskill This Weekend

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Homecoming, a harvest festival at the Peekskill Brewery and lots of live music are among the offerings this weekend in Peekskill.

Friday, Oct. 12

Peekskill City School District Early Dismissal: The district will dismiss students 15 minutes early as part of a countywide emergency evacuation drill.

Tales for Tots: 11 a.m. Stories for children ages 2 and up. Field Library, 4 Nelson Ave.

The Dave Fields Band CD Release Party: 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Dave Fields' newest CD, "Detonation", was produced by legendary Grammy-winning producer David Z (Prince, Government Mule and Johnny Lang) and features blues legend Joe Louis Walker. Admission is a $10 entertainment fee or $5 with a dinner entrée. 12 Grapes, 12 North Division St.

Midnight Slim & Michael: 7:30-10:30 p.m. Fred Scribner, aka Midnight Slim, is a former member of The Levon Helm Band and the driving force behind Little Sammy Davis and Midnight Slim, the house band for the Imus in the Morning Show for almost 20 years. Saturday, Oct 13

Peeskill High School Homecoming: The varsity football team will take on Riverside High School of Yonkers at 2 p.m. at Depew Park Field. The varsity girls' soccer team will take on Haldane at 10:30 a.m. while the varsity boys' soccer will take on Pawling at noon. Both will play at Torpy Field

Peekskill Brewery Hop and Harvest Fest: 4-11 p.m. A celebration of farm-to-table food, craft beer and live music. Located on Water Street outside the Peekskill Brewery's new location. There is no admission, and all food and beverages will be pay-as-you-go and offered a la carte. Peekskill Brewery, Water Street.

Mishti: 9:30 p.m. -12:30 a.m. Mishti's music has been described as "coasting between a bottom-heavy Led Zeppelin-style rock, blues-infused grooves, Thelonius Monk-inspired guitar work and a Nina Simone-style wail-to-whisper. Admission is a $5 entertainment fee for all, including diners. 12 Grapes, 12 North Division St.

Iris Ornig CD Release Party: 7:30-10:30 p.m. Since her arrival in New York in 2003 from Germany, Ornig has played with an impressive roster of some of the most influential contemporary jazz musicians in New York. Her new album, 'No Restrictions,'' explores Brazilian music mixed with the more straightforward American-European jazz traditions. Admission is $10. BeanRunner Café, 201 S. Division St.

Birdsall House Octoberfest Saturday with Andrew Bordeaux and Friends: 5:30 p.m. The local musician will perform a free live set for patrons. Birdsall House, 970 Main St. Sunday, Oct. 14

Noo Moves Entertainment's Artist Appreciation Show: 4-6 p.m. A variety show hosted by Chance and Noodle. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. and the show starts promptly at 4 p.m. Admission $5. BeanRunner Café, 201 S. Division St.
