PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Local residents will be plunging into the cold waters of the Hudson River on New Year's Day to raise money for a great cause.
The 4th Annual Polar Plunge is planned by the This is Me Foundation, and sponsored by The Quiet Man Public House. All proceeds from the plunge will go towards college scholarships for local students who have faced adversity, or helped a friend through adversity, as well as national scholarships to students who have alopecia.
The event will be held at the Peekskill Riverfront Green at noon on Jan. 1, and is open to the public to watch and cheer on the brave plungers. If interested in plunging, participants are still being accepted.
To sign-up, email the This Is Me Foundation at firstname.lastname@example.org by Dec. 31 with name and age. To sponsor a plunger or donate to the event, please visit http://www.newyearspolarplunge.org .

The This Is Me Foundation, founded by Peekskill residents Caitlin & Lauren Brady, was created to raise awareness about alopecia, an auto-immune disease that causes hair loss, while giving hope to any individual who faces adversity. All proceeds go directly to the This Is Me Scholarship Fund, Inspired by Ryan Risco & Cait Chivonne Polhill. The fund has provided 20 scholarships locally and nationally since 2012, and will present eight scholarships in 2016.
