PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Peekskill officials are hoping other communities will join them in lighting up the Hudson shoreline on Thursday in a vigil for the victims of the Orlando mass shooting.
An inter-denominational prayer service and music vigil will be held at 7 p.m. on the Peekskill Riverfront Green.
Participants are asked to bring a flashlight or candle. After the service, everyone will line the waterfront, standing side-by-side illuminating the shoreline from Peekskill Landing to the Yacht Club.
Peekskill is hoping the entire shoreline from New York City to Peekskill will be illuminated.
The vigil is organized by the Peekskill Mayor's Office and the Peekskill Area Pastors Association.
The mayor also ordered flags lowered on all City of Peekskill properties during the week of June 13.
