Peekskill Group To Take George Washington Trolley Tour

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Residents are invited to take a trolley ride Sunday to celebrate the time when George Washington first rode into Peekskill.

The "George Washington Anniversary Trolley Tour" is set for 3:45 p.m. Sunday beginning in front of the Birdsall House at 970 Main St., according to a press release. 

"Take a trolley ride with historian Frank Goderre," representatives said in the press release. "His stories will transport you back in time to when General Washington first rode into Peekskill. Tour Revolutionary War sites in Peekskill and Cortlandt, and learn how important this area was in the general’s strategic plan to keep the British from taking the Hudson River and then all of New England."

At the conclusion of the tour, residents are invited to return to the Birdsall House for a reception as the sun is setting behind Dunderberg Mountain, "just as it was when General Washington rode in on this day in 1776," according to the release. 

For more information, residents are invited to visit the Peekskill Trolley Company website. For reservations, residents are asked to call (914) 739-5408. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $10 for children 15 and younger. Reservations for the tour are required.
