The Peekskill café brings top jazz musicians to Westchester offering a unique experience for both the audience and the performers with its intimate listening room setting.
Upcoming performance include the following:
Gerry Malkin Quintet, Saturday, May 9 – Leader and tenor saxophonist Malkin has performed with Tito Puente, Lew Soloff, Adam Nussbaum,George Colligan, the Temptations, the Four Tops, Ray Vega and Dave Weckl.
Five Toed Dragon, Friday, May 22 – Featuring J Eric Johnson, composer and pianist, who has performed with Carman Moore, Skymusic Ensemble, Leroy Jenkins, Sam Rivers, Oliver Lake , NYC Opera Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Bo Didley and many others.
Valerie Capers Quartet, Saturday, May 23 – Capers has performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, Mongo Santamaria, Tito Puente, Slide Hampton, Max Roach, and Paquito D'Rivera, among others.
Jazz Woman to the Rescue Presents "World Peace in the Key of Jazz," Friday, May 29 – Featuring Antoinette Montague who was mentored by the renowned Etta Jones. She has graced the stages of Lincoln Center, the Zebra Room in Harlem's famous Lenox Lounge, the Blue Note, Jazz Standard and more.
Shunzo Ohno, June 27 – Grammy-award winning artist Ohno has played, recorded and toured with such renowned leaders as Gil Evans, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Art Blakey and many others. Ohno has 16 recordings under his own name as a leader and has appeared on more than 30 more as a sideman.
“Jazz should be celebrated every day,” said Bean Runner proprietor Ted Bitter. “We’re proud to offer performances throughout the year celebrating this important genre of music and to offer it affordably, giving access to a wider audience.”
Performance cover charges range from $10 to $25. The café’s full menu as well as wine, beer and specialty drinks are available during performances.
