“Get into the spirit of the season at Lasdon, which will be transformed into a magical destination with festive lights, seasonal music, hayrides and a grand model train setup where engines pull their cars through a landscape that includes replicas of familiar Westchester towns and landmarks,” said County Executive Rob Astorino said.

“Santa, of course, will make special visits to take gift requests.”

For the first time, the Lasdon main garden will be lit up with sparkling lights. Visitors can stroll through the garden as holiday music plays softly in the background.

Visitors can also take tractor-drawn wagon rides (weather permitting) that will lead to a festive light display in the woods.

Santa Claus will make appearances throughout the event to hear the wishes from children, young and old. Visitors may bring a camera and take a photo with Santa.

The main house, decorated for the season, will showcase the huge model train display, including the Polar Express and other trains chugging on a tiny Metro-North line from New York City to Katonah.

Along the way, the trains pass famous landmarks, a Christmas town, skyscrapers and winter landscapes, featuring miniatures of Santa, Rudolf, the Grinch, "Peanuts" characters and more.

The library will present holiday movies and storytelling at various times. The dining room will be transformed into Santa’s home, complete with a gingerbread house, Christmas tree and Santa himself, as well as Mrs. Claus (when she’s not baking cookies or wrapping gifts).

The Garden Shop will be open for business, selling refreshments, poinsettias, Christmas trees, wreaths and gifts, featuring the work of local artists.

Proceeds from the Christmas tree sales will go to homeless veterans. Outside, the Garden Shop fire pits will be aglow in the evening for visitors to gather and enjoy a hot chocolate or a cup of chili while listening to the music of the season.

The Veterans Museum will be open extended hours during the show dates, featuring the new exhibit on the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor.

Lasdon Holidays on the Hill is scheduled for Fridays, Dec. 2, 9, and 16, from 4-7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, Dec. 3, 10 and 17, from noon-7:30 p.m.; and Sundays, Dec. 4, 11 and 18, from noon-7 p.m. Holiday light show and wagon rides begin at 4 p.m. on each event day.

Daytime admission (entry between noon and 3 p.m.) is $5 for adults and $3 for children. After 3 p.m. admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children. Wagon rides are $5 per person. All children under 2 are admitted free. Admission proceeds benefit the Lasdon glass house conservatory, now under construction.
